Current Coaches Meet With Catholic High Coaching Legend

Coaches Claps, Font, Esposito, Baker, and Bedosky attended the Big New England Football Clinic in Newport, Rhode Island this past weekend. In addition to learning a few of the finer coaching points about offense and defense, they were lucky enough to connect with clinic coordinator Bob Horan. Coach Horan is more known around these circles as the 2nd Head Coach in Catholic High history, and the coach of the famed 1966 State Championship team who won “The Game” defeating Rippowam 32-6 to cap a 2nd straight undefeated season.

Coach Horan lectured at the conference focusing on offensive game planning and passing attacks for youth football. In one lecture, he mentioned how the screen pass can be an effective weapon, citing 2 screen passes early in the 2nd half of “The Game” put Catholic High’s offense in gear by going for touchdowns against a defense that had shut them out in the first half.

Horan is the Founder of the 33 Touchdown Football Club of Boston MA, a non-profit organization in the Boston area that provides scholarships for true student-athletes committed to playing football at the collegiate level. Coach presented members of the staff with hats from the organization.

The coaching staff would like to thank Coach Horan for taking the time to meet with them at the event and the hats. Their invitation to stop by a practice, weightlifting session, or any other Catholic High event stands open any time you are in the area, Coach.

The staff, rejuvenated by a weekend of football immersion, returned to Stamford with a purpose to make next season at Catholic High a special one, starting with Saturday’s Strongman Competition. Best of luck to all competitors
